Courses We Offer
Our school offers a large amount of courses for GCSE and A-Level. Here are the courses on offer for students at John Colet School;
Art and Design
Art and Design is a great oppurtunity for our students to be creative with all sorts of different materials. The John Colet doesn't just restict its students to drawing. There's painting, making, paper-macheing. There lots to do in the Art department.
Business Studies
There's a lot to learn about business at John Colet. This interesting course provides useful skills for our young students who want to start up a business some day. It's the perfect combination of fun and learning.
Child Development
For those students who are interested in children, child development is the perfect course to tell them everything they need to know about working or having children. Some students may want to be teachers when they are older, so this is the perfect study to start them off.
Communication Studies
Communication Studies is a great course to help students develop their knowledge oncommunication. It's the perfect study for any student looking for a future in agency and marketing.
Drama
The Drama department is a great way for students to let out their emotions and just have fun. Those shy and quiet students can show their true selves doing drama excercises and participating in plays. There are also fun theatre trips to help students with their coursework.
English
Our English department covers some very intresting topics, from Shakespeare to World War 1. Here at John Colet School, we like to get our students involved in various different activities like creative writing and storyboards. We also think that watching movies related to the topic helps students to get a little more interested in english.
Film Studies
Film Studies is a great topic for anyone interested in a future in the film industry. Here at John Colet, this topic consists of analysing movies, characters, roles, etc. It's a really fun course to participate in, but is only available for A-Level Study.
Health and Social Care
This course is great for sport lovers interested in health, and people who want to become social workers some day. This course is interesting for people who want to become doctors or physio therapists too. It is however, another A-Level Course.
Humanities
At John Colet school, we specilise in Humanities. Our Humanities courses cover a range of different topics from all different subjects, such as History, RE, and Georgraphy. We arrange lots of exciting projects for our students to do as well.
History
Our History course is an interesting course to take. We cover all sorts of topics such as the Holocaust, both World Wars, and the Industrial Revolution. It is also available to take for GCSE and A-Level. There are even some role play activities once and a while.
Geography
This is a great course to take for GCSE and A-Level. Not only does it study where places in the world are, but it also studies poverty in those places, natural disasters, and government there. It also involves some creative aspects as well, like making posters, and having class debates.
RE
RE is a very intresting course open to class discussions and reasearch projects. It studies all aspects of religion, and then debates them fairly in class. It also studies possibilities of other worlds in the universe, so it includes a bit of Science also.
ICT
ICT and Computing is a great course, as you can learn all about how to make websites, games, even movies. It's a good skill for every student to have, as ICT will definitely come up in their daily lives as computers become an average item in every household.
Maths
Our Maths department has many different equations for students to learn in a fun way. We like to get our students to see all the aspects of Mathematics, so as well as writing up work, you will be making and drawing too. We are also part of my maths, an online homework website, which is easy to use and marks it straight away.
MFL
Our foreign languages department offers many different languages; French, Spanish and German. There are also loads of fun, educational trips abroad, like to Germany and France. Students start learning all of these languages are compulsory from Year 7 to Year 8, and can be continued if it's the students wish.
Music
Students will be able to try many different musical activities with our music department. Playing african drums, using keyboards, watching videos containing interesting music. There's lot of fun activities to do.
